Description
Product Overview
SINOSEIKO (or SSK Diamond) supplies Cubic Boron Nitride (CBN) abrasives β the second hardest material known after diamond. CBN offers many of diamond’s outstanding properties while providing superior thermal stability and resistance to chemical attack, making it the preferred abrasive for grinding ferrous materials where diamond is unsuitable due to carbon affinity.
CBN is extensively used in automotive and aerospace industries for grinding tools and cutters, gear and bearing machining, and precision finishing of hardened components.
Product Types
CBN Abrasive Grits β Crystalline CBN grains available in multiple grades and mesh sizes for bonded abrasives, grinding wheels, and cutting tools. Engineered for high material removal rates and extended wheel life in ferrous metal grinding.
CBN Micron Powders β Precision-graded CBN micron powders for precision lapping, grinding, polishing, and fine finishing applications. Also used in the manufacture of PCBN compacts and lapping compounds.
| Parameter | Specification |
|---|---|
| Mesh Size (Grits) | 16/20 to 325/400 (US Sieve) |
| Micron Powder Size | 0 β 1 ΞΌm to 54 β 64 ΞΌm |
| Crystal Form | Cubic (isometric) |
| Hardness | HV 4000 β 5000 (Knoop) |
| Thermal Stability | Up to 1400Β°C (in air) |
| Chemical Resistance | Excellent with ferrous metals (no carbon diffusion) |
| Packaging | 1 carat to 1000 carat containers; bulk available |
Key Advantages
Unlike diamond, CBN doesn’t react with iron β making it ideal for steel and cast iron grinding.
Stable up to 1400Β°C β far exceeding diamond’s limit β enabling aggressive grinding without wheel degradation.
CBD micron powders deliver sub-micron surface finishes for bearing races, hydraulic components, and optical molds.

CUBIC BORON NITRIDE ABRASIVES
Cubic Boron Nitride (CBN) is the second hardest known material, only next to diamond. It not only has many good properties of diamond, but also the advantage of high thermal stability and resistance to chemical attack make it suitable for machining ferrous materials, where diamond is not normally employed. It is widely applied in automotive and aerospace industries, tool and cutter grinding, gear and bearings machining etc.
CBN Powder
CBN powder is used for precise grinding, lapping, polishing and fine machining application, and also suitable for the manufacture of PCBN and abrasive paste etc.
